Barry Hazelwood - Delivery Services Manager

As well as working with some of our key clients, Barry is Huthwaite International's Delivery Services Manager. This involves managing and implementing the training and accreditation of our representatives across the world to maintain the world-class delivery quality of our programmes. It requires a high degree of cultural sensitivity without compromising the strict, uniform judging standards that must be met. Training Huthwaite clients and trainers over the years has taken him all over the world. He's worked in every European country, North Africa, the Middle East, India, South-East Asia, China, Canada, the USA and South Africa.


Barry has been responsible for defining The Huthwaite Approach, our four-stage model for achieving sales improvement for our clients. With clients, Barry has experience of working in both sales effectiveness and management development projects and has conducted training at all levels within client organisations, including consulting at board level. He has worked with some of our biggest clients across a range of interventions. These include being a real-time negotiation coach for a team from a technology company who were handling a multi-million pound outsourcing deal, helping an international consultancy firm migrate from the public sector to private sector, and supporting one of the world's leading insurance groups in a project to re-engineer their operating model. He has worked with B2B, B2C, distribution, and public sector channels.


In the classroom, Barry delivers training with passion and enthusiasm, illustrating our content with personal experience and anecdotes. He is keen to help new trainers develop their own stock of stories and illustrations to make training more engaging. Although sensitive to participants' different learning styles and pace, he is not afraid to challenge complacency and assumptions.


As part of Huthwaite's alliance with Sheffield Hallam University Business School, Barry is a guest lecturer on sales-related topics as part of their BA Business Studies and MSc International Marketing curricula. Barry is also a prolific writer of articles on sales and negotiation issues. He has been published or quoted in a range of national daily newspapers and professional journals over the years. His entertaining style makes him a popular keynote speaker at client conferences and conventions.


He joined Huthwaite following a career in financial services in sales, sales management, operations and – ultimately – Training and Development. It was in this role that he first encountered Huthwaite, subsequently joining as one of our consultants.
