Steve Thurlow - Business Director for Manufacturing & Logistics
Prior to joining Huthwaite International, Steve held a variety of sales and sales management roles, mainly within the IT sector. Despite qualifying as an Accountant he has spent his entire career in sales related roles including managing a dealer/distributor network with responsibility for revenue and development of the network's sales team.
He joined Huthwaite in 1991 as a consultant then progressed to Business Group Manager. He was part of the team that launched a successful MBO in 1998 which led to senior roles such as Director for Technology Enabled Solutions, Sales Development Director and his current role as Director for Manufacturing and Logistics. His role involves creating, identifying and realising opportunities to deliver the performance improvements and business outcomes our clients are seeking, across his market sectors.
He has sold, designed and delivered the full range of Huthwaite commercial skills solutions to a number of the world's leading salesforces including APV, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, General Electric, IBM, ICI, Unipart Group and UPS. Steve has helped with the globalisation of many salesforces by aligning internal processes throughout the world by working with top level management within that company. His cultural knowledge and experience extends to many parts of the globe but particularly across Europe, Arabia and the Gulf.
Steve devised the Huthwaite service/sales continuum concept and has a particular interest in widening the sales culture across organisations and maximising the sales value that can be created and captured by service and technical personnel. He also wrote the simulation for Huthwaite’s popular Account Strategy for Major Sales course.
He is CIMA qualified and a fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management. He has acted as a category judge and presenter at the National Sales Awards. He is a regular writer and his relaxed, high energy and creative style makes him a popular speaker, with his experience including the Project Management Association on Negotiation and many events on sales/service topics.
